How to Set Up Indosat GPRS on Your Nokia

If you use a nokia mobile phone and indosat (IM3, mentari, matrix) service, you will probably need to activate the internet on your phone. But how do you do it? Well, there are two ways of the indosat GPRS activation: via SMS and manual setup.

To set the GPRS via SMS is simple. You just need to type GPRS<space>NOKIA<space>YOURNOKIATYPE and send it to 5000, for example GPRS NOKIA 6020. Then wait a few second. Indosat will send you the internet setting which later can be saved as the default on your phone.

However not all nokia phones support this kind of setting. Some phones requires you to set the GPRS or MMS manually by going to the setting menu. Now, here is how to set it up:

Settings -> Configuration settings -> Personal Configuration Settings -> Add New -> Select Web

->Access Point Setting

  • Proxy: enable
  • proxy address: 010.019.019.019
  • Proxy port: 0808

-> data bearer settings

  • GPRS access point: indosatgprs
  • Authentication Type: normal
  • username: indosat
  • password: indosat

Now go back to personal configuration settings and highlight indosatgprs. Select option and activate.
